My First Love
My love of gardening started when I was a toddler. I spent a lot
of time at the home of my grandparents. The best memory I have
is of their garden full of iris and lily of the valley plants.
The irises are still a favorite because they are so elegant with
so many different varieties. Lily of the valley has such a
lovely scent and still brings back many warm memories of my
childhood.
My love of flowers became cemented during kindergarten when Mr.
White (the rose gardener at Ritter Park in Huntington, WV)
started bringing rose bouquets to me while I was in class. The
special feeling I felt cannot be described adequately because I
grew up in a large family and don’t remember having anything
that was just for me.
My two sisters and I shared everything. I wouldn’t trade my
sisters for anything in the world because it was truly wonderful
always having two built-in best friends. Family and flowers make
everything better.
